LIFE LATELY

Life Lately - Flowers

Hello! It’s been a while my last post on the blog and thought I should give you an update on my life lately. April has shaped to be a rather challenging month with a handful of mishaps. At the beginning of the month, I was excited to visit my family for the Easter holidays. I haven’t seen them since New Year’s Eve and it would be the perfect opportunity for some quality family time and relaxation.

But things didn’t go exactly according to plan, as 100km outside my hometown our car broked down. A truck tow came and pulled us to my hometown and from then to the car repair shop to see what was wrong with our car. It was an eventful road trip to remember. The next day we managed to fix the car but still, we were worried about the 400km trip back home in a few days.

Despite the rough beginning of our Easter holidays we managed to have a good time with lots of long walks along my famous hometown pier, good food, and company. I was glad to see my mother and brother and make plans for my mother to visit us at the beginning of the summer. My mother surprised me with a ZARA pair of earrings that she knew I wanted to buy and a FOREVER 21 dress I ordered a few days ago was delivered to my family house. The dress needed some adjustments and I brought it to my mother’s seamstress to work her magic. The days passed quickly and just like that, we were hitting the road back home.

My fiancé had a few more days off work when we returned and we took advantage of them with nearby escapes. We spent a sunny, warm, Friday afternoon having lunch by the sea. It was amazing and even more because it was a casual workday that felt like playing hookey. During these outings, I took no photos and kept my phone in my bag. It made me feel more present to the moment and enjoyed myself without worrying to take the perfect photo to share on Instagram. But you know all good things must at some point come to an end.

And as I was getting ready to get back in the hang of things our fridge broke down. It was the last thing we needed after our car adventure. We called a technician, who informed us that even though our fridge was perfectly fine. It needed 48 to 60 hours to completely defrost in order to work properly and he couldn’t do anything. We emptied the fridge completely and moved some of our groceries to our neighbor’s fridge. We ended up tossing a lot of things that we had no space to store. Thankfully after 48 hours, our fridge defrosted completely and it started working properly. This adventure made me appreciate something that I take daily for granted.

WORK. As far as work is concerned, I have been working nonstop lately not that I am complaining of course. During the Easter holidays, I worked on a big translation project. The last couple of weeks I work with one of my favorite long-term clients on some new projects.  But as you can imagine, all this work had a toll on my posting on the blog. To be honest, even after blogging for almost six years now, I haven’t found the perfect working, blogging, life balance.

Even when I feel that I am one step ahead, I find myself one step behind that is so frustrating. Scheduling some posts on the weekend has definitely helped me. I have so many ideas for blog posts and things I want to improve. I just have to put one foot in front of the other and start working towards all my blogging goals. Shoegal Out In The World is special to me and deserves my love and attention.

TV SHOWS. I was anticipating The Handmaid’s Tale Season Two premiere on Hulu and it didn’t disappoint me. The first two episodes were so powerful and moving. Elizabeth Moss and Alexis Bledel were so so good in their respective roles while certain scenes gave me the chills. The idea how corrupted and dangerous the human mind can be left me wondering. So every Wednesday for the foreseeable future I will have trouble sleeping but it definitely worths it.

Since we are on the tv show topic, I have fallen in love with another show recently. Chef’s Table: Pastry is another amazing tv show to watch on Netflix this time. It is beautifully directed and the stories of each pastry chef is beautifully narated.

BOOKS. Of course, since I am spending my free time binge-watching all the Netflix tv shows, I have fallen behind my reading. In four months, I have read only six books when I should have read sixteen. Currently, I am reading The Handmaid’s Tale among others. I bought the book last year when the first season of the eponymous tv show but it wasn’t until now that I started reading it. Also, I am reading the Hot Mess, some chick literature when I want something light to read and The Miracle Morning for some self-improvement.

SHOPPING. What else, what else… I have been on a shopping spree lately. So many good deals that I couldn’t pass. I invested in some basic pieces that my wardrobe was lacking. In the coming weeks, I will blog more about my new purchases. I need a few more pieces and my wardrobe will be summer ready.

TRAVELING. Last but not least, my wanderlust is fast growing and I am browsing destinations and dates but I have no certain plans to report just yet. However, I just realized that I haven’t posted anything about my trips to Nicosia and Belgrade so stay tuned as some fun travel posts will be coming your way.

This ended up a rather long post – thank you to those who made it to the end  – but now you are caught up with what I have been doing lately since it’s been a long time since we had an all good chat.
