FESTIVE SEASON SURVIVAL GUIDE

Festive Season Survival Guide

With my calendar filling up with Christmas parties, I am always well aware of the potential festive burnout. So I compiled a festive season survival guide. It includes a selection of my favorite ways to avoid burnout whilst still celebrating the holiday season. It is perfect for either a Christmas night in or simply a guide as to how to survive the festive season.

Festive Burnout | Tiredness or exhaustion following an excess of festive events or occasions.

FESTIVE SEASON SURVIVAL GUIDE

01. PLAN CONSCIOUSLY

Social event invitations can sometimes be overwhelming, but try to avoid filling up your week too much. Of course, I am not suggesting you turn down every invitation, but make sure you schedule in a completely free day or at the very least, an evening where you can catch up on yourself!

02. USE YOUR HOLIDAYS EFFECTIVELY

If you have booked off work for any Holidays across December and January make sure to fully switch off! Try to avoid checking work emails and make sure that all your plans are enjoyable and aren’t too draining!

03. ALLOW FOR 10 MINUTES OF MINDFULNESS IN YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

Social event invitations can sometimes be overwhelming, but try to avoid filling up your week too much. Of course, I am not suggesting you turn down every invitation, but make sure you schedule in a completely free day or at the very least, an evening where you can catch up on yourself!

04. REASSESS ANY POTENTIALLY EMOTIONAL SITUATIONS

We all have people in our lives, whether friends or family, that we find emotionally draining and overly emotional situations can have a significant impact on our state of mind. Try and avoid scheduling in too many of these if at all possible, but if not, make sure you allow time to recover from them!

05. ENSURE YOU ARE EATING NUTRITIOUSLY

Ever been too busy to eat? Make sure that you allow yourself time to eat and fully your lunchbreaks. Try to prepare a filling and healthy breakfast like porridge, and a substantial lunch that will set you on the right track for the rest of the day. A healthy meal should also provide you with enough energy to get through the day!

06. FACTOR IN SOME PAMPER TIME

A busy schedule can mean that regular beauty tasks to the side so why not allow for a pamper evening watching your favorite Christmas movie while applying a face mask for some festive downtime. Combine this with a takeaway and an indulgent hot chocolate for the perfect cozy night in, ready to recharge your batteries.
